Science in Place

The Sitka Sound Science Center presents some options for families looking for fun science units to do at home or on vacation!  Our Science in Place (SiP) kits are designed for youth and families to explore topics of interest in a camp-like format – multiple activities, crafts, and experiments, indoors and outdoors.  Another option – Science Bites – allow families to read about the animals and happenings of our aquarium, hatchery, and research projects and extend understandings with related activities provided on-line.  Science Bites are free and can be accessed anytime on our website.  Both SiPs and Science Bites are described on the Sitka Sound Science Center website (www.sitkascience.org) under the Education tab.

However, below you will find the list of six available SiP packs.  Each SiP includes all of the material, instructions, and supplies needed to complete the camp activities on your own.  Some SiPs will include an exclusive link to a video recording from SSSC staff and/or content experts.
