It is with great pleasure that we announce the availability of a limited number of Meeting Support Awards to attend the 2016 OBFS Annual Meeting at the Sitka Sound Science Center, Sitka, Alaska, USA. Please review the criteria and deadlines below to apply for this award.
Requisites:
Letter of interest from Director of station.
Justification of need.

Membership in OBFS in good standing.
Receipt of applications will take place from April 01st, 2016 through May 15th, 2016. Decisions will be announced directly to the applicants by June 30th, 2016 to give sufficient time to purchase plane tickets at reasonable prices. These awards are provided on a reimbursement basis only (i.e., no funds will be provided ahead of expenses).
Awards are limited to $1,500 maximum per application. Only one award per applying institution. Allowable expenses include Economy airfare to the meeting location, normal travel expenses (meals, in-route lodging, car rental) and meeting fees. Original receipts will be required for reimbursement of allowed expenses. Priority will be given to small field stations in developing countries. Membership in OBFS is required to qualify for the award. Membership fees are not reimbursable or allowed as part of the meeting awards. Previous recipients of meeting awards (travel grants) will be considered but priority will be given to new applicants.

Southeast Alaska is exclusively serviced by Alaska Airlines, which offers daily flights between Seattle-Tacoma International Airport and Sitka Rocky Gutierrez Airport, with an average roundtrip airfare of $450-$650. Please use the code ECMJ109 when searching for your Alaska Air flight to recieve a 10% discount. When departing Sitka, east coast travelers will need to take the 6 am flight to return in one day.
Sitka is on the Alaska Marine Highway Ferry System which connects us to Alaska towns such as Juneau, and Ketchikan, as well as with Washington state. Once you arrive in Sitka, you'll need to take a taxi the two miles to downtown or the Historic Sheldon Jackson campus. For those planning to take taxis, the estimated fee is $10 between the airport and the Historic Sheldon Jackson campus.
