14,780 lb of Marine Debris Collected
35 days of cleaning marine debris from over 7 miles of coastline weighs in at 14,780 lb!
That’s as much as a fully loaded car trailer!
Our team worked tirelessly this summer with Zofia Danielson at the helm. This is all part of our larger beach cleanup effort that will span several years.
Marine debris is a global problem that we can all take part in addressing through small efforts on our own local beaches. But if you are interested in helping on a larger scale, stay tuned for job opportunities for the 2026 cleanup season.
Thanks to our Science Center staff and the F/V Axel crew for their help in weighing our garbage.
