How to make a donation in someone’s name
One way to honor a loved one is by donating to Sitka Sound Science Center in their memory or their name. Your donation will assure that curiosity, integrity, respect and community — critical elements of the scientific endeavor and to solving some of our biggest issues — will be maintained over time.

Jamie Gorman Beach Clean Up
Since 2021 SSSC has been managing an annual beach clean up on Kruzof Island in memory of Jamie Gorman.
Jamie was a lifelong Sitkan with a passion for the ocean. A commercial fisherman, he spent his free time surfing with friends. To honor his love of the ocean his family has asked friends to donate to the Sitka Sound Science Center to fund a beach clean up taking place each year on Kruzof Island, home to many epic swells.

Assure Science is Sustained
In this changing world, you can help assure that some things – science research and education – remain. By setting aside assets through your estate planning, you will nurture the spirit of scientific inquiry for future generations. Planned giving creates a legacy by setting aside a specific dollar amount or percentage of assets to Sitka Sound Science Center’s Sustainable Development Endowment Fund, which will support science education and research in years to come.
A will that includes Sitka Sound Science Center as a charitable beneficiary includes simple bequest language. The bequest can be structured in a variety of ways: some donors elect to leave a specific dollar amount or a percentage of their estate, while others choose to designate a particular asset such as real or personal property. Your contribution will go into the Sitka Sound Science Center Sustainable Development Endowment Fund managed by the Juneau Community Foundation.
