Aquarist for a Day
Ever wonder what it is like to work in an aquarium? What exactly does an aquarist do? This could be your chance to find out, with the Science Center’s new “Aquarist for a Day” experience. Participants will get a brief overview of what working in the Molly O. Ahlgren Aquarium involves before getting some hands-on experience. A few possible activities include preparing food and feeding animals, cleaning tanks, and collecting new animals.
This activity is designed for small groups or families and lasts about 2 hours. Due to the nature of the activities, children who participate need to be able to focus on one task for at least 20 minutes, and to follow all SSSC staff instructions and safety protocols. The recommended minimum age is 7 years old.
Aquarist for a Day is held on Wednesdays, with a start time choice of 9:00am or 4:30pm. Cost for this experience is $40 for non-members, $32 for members, and allows for up to 4 people. Pre-registration is required and can be booked by clicking the Book Now button.
Due to COVID-19, all participants must wear a face covering for the duration of the activity.
