Fab Friday: Colors of Nature | Fridays 2:10pm-4:00pm, Open to all middle school students
Fab Friday: Colors of Nature is a free, afterschool program from SSSC and YAS to help students see the many ways art and science connect. Students will explore paper marbling, observational drawing, natural dyes, and more! It runs on Friday afternoons when school is in session starting September 20th. Tank Techs | Mondays 3:30pm-5:00pm, Open to students in 8th grade
Have you ever wondered what it takes to run an aquarium? 8th grade students are invited to join Tank Techs, a free, afterschool club in which students learn the ins and outs of aquarium care. Remove parasites from fish, build a brine shrimp breeder, and more! The club starts on September 23rd and runs throughout the fall semester. Water Power! | Thursdays 3:00pm-5:00pm, Open to 4th and 5th grade students
SSSC hosts a free afterschool club for 4th and 5th grade students on Thursday afternoons from 3:00pm-5:00pm starting September 26th. Discover the many powers of water: blast your friends with your own homemade water gun, compete in a water filtering competition, and build your own dam on the stream table! Sitka Sprouts | Every Tuesday throughout the school year from 10:30 to 11:30am

  • Plant the Seeds of Science in the next generation! Sprouts is a free, weekly preschool program that takes place every Tuesday morning from 10:30 – 11:30am at the Sitka Sound Science Center during the fall, winter, and spring months. This program is designed for children ages 3-5 years old and their parents. Each session begins with a story followed by a variety of hands-on crafts and activities related to the theme of the story. There is a new theme every week, so no worries if you miss a session. No registration is necessary, just stop on by!
