Doing Our Part in the Face of COVID-19

March 17, 2020, by admin

Due to the ongoing spread of the COVID-19 virus and in conjunction with the CDC’s recommendations for best practices and guidelines for preventing the spread, after much discussion Sitka Sound Science Center has decided to close to the public and discontinue all in person programming at least through Tuesday, March 31st.

Although we are deeply saddened to do this, we feel it is in the best interest for the health and safety of our staff and fellow Sitkans. In the meantime, SSSC staff are developing educational experiences and resources that we can provide through our social media channels. We will continue to monitor the situation and recommendations of officials, and keep you informed as things evolve.

As a science organization, we encourage you to validate your sources of information and think critically about what is a trusted source for solid scientific information. This is more important than ever. We look forward to resuming our normal operations and programming as soon as possible.

All staff will continue to work, but in a remote capacity for the time being. If you need to get in contact with any of the staff please use their individual email or you can contact infomation@sitkascience.org. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we all navigate this challenge together.
