In honor of Walt Cunningham and Molly Ahlgren’s passion for learning, this scholarship fund  furthers science education of students through scholarships for educational activities including school, camps, conferences and Sitka WhaleFest.

Molly O Ahlgren was a visionary scientist, responsible for the development of the aquarium and touch tanks at the Science Center. She was also responsible for the training of many marine scientists throughout Alaska. Her research and dive partner, Walt Cunningham, was a research technician for the ADF&G sea lion program and a founding Board member of Sitka WhaleFest. The Cunningham-Ahlgren Scholarship honors them by providing student scholarships for educational and professional development in the marine sciences.
