Join artist and Science Center staff member, Lisa Teas Conaway, for a hands-on introduction to scientific illustration. The class will take place on Tuesday, June 9, from 9am-12pm, at the Science Center – Karsh Classroom.

Bird Walk

Join Sitka Sound Science Center staff member Chase Coleman for a relaxed morning birding walk focused on curiosity, observation, and sharing knowledge. Participants will explore local bird habitat, practice identifying birds by sight and sound, and spend time slowing down and noticing the world around them. This walk will take place on Wednesday, June 10, from 9-11am, starting at the Science Center.

Aquarium Behind-the-Scenes Tour

Go behind the scenes at the Sitka Sound Science Center aquarium with Aquarist Matt Wilson for a closer look at the animals, systems, and daily work that keep the aquarium running. This guided tour offers a chance to explore spaces not typically open to the public, learn how local marine species are cared for, and ask questions about aquarium operations, animal husbandry, and marine life in Sitka Sound. This tour will take place on Thursday, June 11, from 1-3:30pm, at the Science Center.

History of the Science Center Tour

Join Science Center staff member, Lina Kapp, for a walk through the past, present, and future of the Sitka Sound Science Center. From the historic Sheldon Jackson campus and salmon hatchery, to the evolution of the Science Center itself. This tour explores the people, stories, and ideas that have shaped SSSC over the years. This tour will take place on Friday, June 12, from 9-11:30am, at the Science Center.
