Impacts of Climate Change

April 10, 2019, by admin

This summer SSSC is excited to be hosting a group of researchers from the University of California Irvine who are conducting a series of studies on how intertidal zone species are responding to changes in the climate. The team, who is here from March to September, is utilizing a set of tide pools at John Brown’s beach to conduct their experiments (Permitted by the US Coast Guard). These studies are part of a collaborative effort with the Sorte & Bracken Lab at UCI, Kroeker Lab at UCSC, and Miller Lab at SDSU.

In the field Researchers Lauren Strope, Sarah Mastroni, Matt Bracken and Cascade Sorte check instruments that help simulate warming and CO2 enrichment in tide pool systems.
