Introducing
Tutu’s Tide Pool

November 8, 2024, by Lisa Teas Conaway

Yesterday we had the honor of unveiling Tutu’s Tide Pool to all the students at Xóots Elementary.

Tutu’s Tide Pool is a fully mobile touch tank that will allow our education staff the ability to show the intertidal world off in many settings. The mobile aquarium will make marine science more accessible and fun to a wide range of audiences.

Bette and Theo Gray

Tutu (Liz Bodine) was a beloved grandmother to 2nd grader Theo Gray, who’s class had the extra excitement of helping arrange the tide pool animals in the tank accompanied by Theo’s mother and Tutu’s daughter, Bette Gray. We are so grateful for Tutu’s generosity that made our mobile touch tank possible and has helped us in cultivating the love of exploration and discovery in the next generations.

This was the first official trip for Tutu’s Tide Pool, but will not be the last. The mobile ability of this touch tank will allow the Science Center to expand our reach and aid our education programs into the future.

We are grateful to Tutu and her family and excited for future adventures with Tutu’s Tide Pool.
