Please help us welcome Mia Kuartei to our team. We are very excited to have her aboard! Mia is the new Science Outreach Coordinator and Sitka WhaleFest Director.

Mia Kuartei is completing her MEd in Learning Design & Technology at UAS. Originally from Palau, she earned her undergraduate degrees in International Studies and Secondary Education – Social Studies from Taylor University; after teaching and working in curriculum development has spent the last 11 years working in Community and Youth Development Programs in Seattle and San Francisco. Mia loves the island life in Sitka, being on or under the sea, and exploring the outdoors with her husband, Truman, an active duty U.S. Coast Guard member.
