We welcomed Debra Corbell to our team this week. She is a great contribution to the Science Center!

Debra Corbell is the Marine Debris Grant Administrator at the Sitka Sound Science Center. She was raised in North Carolina and received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics at UNC-Chapel Hill. Shortly after graduation in 2000, she migrated to the West Coast where she has found her true love, the Pacific Ocean. She worked in graphic design for a merchandising company for many years as she moved up and down the California coast. In the summer of 2014, she decided to make Sitka, Alaska her home and take on the adventure of becoming a commercial fisherman. While not working on boat, many days have been spent on remote beaches finding marine debris that she likes to call “treasure.”
