Ian is an informal science educator serving with AmeriCorps/ JVC Northwest at the Science Center. Ian grew up in Duluth, Minnesota, on the tip of Lake Superior in the land of 10,000 lakes. Exploring the surrounding landscapes through fishing, canoeing, and endurance sports built his love for the natural world. Ian discovered his passion for youth education through running a middle school garden, tutoring high schoolers, and coaching youth sports. He graduated in the spring of 2023 from St. Olaf College with a degree in chemistry. Ian is thrilled to live in Sitka and is enjoying learning about an environment so different from the Midwest.
