Ocean Conservancy: Alaska Marine Debris Manager

Kristina Tirman is the Education and Marine Debris Coordinator at the Sitka Sound Science Center. She grew up in the mountains of Truckee, California and headed south to the beach for her B.S. in Biology at the University of California, Santa Barbara. In 2015, she moved to Sitka to spend a year serving as an AmeriCorps Volunteer and quickly fell in love with the community, culture, and people of Sitka and the Science Center. After completing her year of service, she began working as the Education Coordinator and decided to make Sitka her permanent home. Kristina loves hiking, trail-running, snorkeling, paddle boarding, making jewelry, and spending time with her cat, Mango.
