What mysteries lakes may hold
Join University at Buffalo NY Geoscientists, Biologists, and Sitka Sound Science Center at Swan Lake, Saturday June 15th from 10am to 12pm.
A soil core sample will be taken from the lake and community members are welcome to examine it along with our visiting scientists to discover what our climate might have looked like thousands of years ago. This is an extension on the visiting scientists groups wider research across the region coring remote lakes to try and see if any might have supported life during the last ice age, indicating that there might have been pockets of ice-free earth amongst the glaciers.
This event is free and fun for all ages. Email info@sitkascience.org for more information.
