Rising Tide 2023

January 4, 2024, by Lisa Teas Conaway

Dear science supporters,

We would like to thank you for all your support and donations throughout the past year. 2023 was full of growth and development for the Sitka Sound Science Center: we completed a major construction project for our salmon enhancement operation, gained deeper understanding of the movements of soil and water that create geohazards, removed over 14,859 pounds of debris from the ocean, evolved and developed our offerings to worldwide visitors in response to record rates of tourism for Sitka, welcomed more students to Sitka WhaleFest than ever before, saw historic returns of chum salmon, and so much more.

This was all accomplished with help and support from you. Please take a moment to review some of our major projects from 2023 in our annual newsletter, Rising Tide.

Pick up a copy at the Sitka Sound Science Center today or view and download here.

As we reflect on a year well spent working towards our goals and developing new ones, please consider that you can help us in our work. By supporting the Sitka Sound Science Center through donations, you are helping us to increase awareness and understanding of our local ecosystems through education and research within our community both locally and regionally.

Help be a part of our mission bringing science into the classrooms and scientists into the fields donate today.

Thank you,
