Sprouts – “Sun Celebration”

April 28, 2020, by Kristina Tirman

Although the forecast calls for rain, rain and more rain – we can prepare ourselves for the sunny days ahead by celebrating and learning about the Sun!

The Sun is a hot ball of glowing gasses and is the heart of our solar system! The Sun’s gravity holds our solar system together and keeps all of the planets in orbit. The interaction between the Sun and Earth is what causes things like seasons, currents, tides, weather, climate, and Northern lights.

Our exploration of the Sun is not going very deep into chemistry and physics, but instead will include a few crafts and activities that help us explore some of the effects of the sun – including heat and light! If you would like a more in depth explanation of the Sun and it’s power, the Nasa website has some great information and kid friendly resources! If you would like to stick with a more introductory exploration of the Sun, download the Sprouts Activity Packet below!
